This is a suggested install order, as Microsoft recommends.

For the best performance and stability in Microsoft Windows, install drivers and patches in the following order:
1) Windows Service pack updates
2) Microsoft Directx updates (to at least Directx 8.1)
3) Chipset drivers
4) LAN, USB, Audio and Video drivers 

In most cases LAN drivers need to be installed to install service packs, but may need to be reinstalled after the chipset drivers packs.
